On Janurary 14th 2021, Nanjing Maritime Court(NMC) held a press conference on the construction of diversified dispute resolution systems. The press conference was hosted by Min Xing, member of the Party Committee and Director of Political Department of NMC. Yang Changshun, member of the Party Committee and vice-president of NMC, Shen Jing, Director of Case Filing Tribunal, Wang Yun, Director of Enforcement Bureau, Yu Xuming, Director of Lianyungang Dispatched Tribunal attended the conference.

On December 4th, 2020, Nanjing Maritime Court(hereinafter referred to as "NMC") held the Constitution Oath-taking Ceremony. About 70 judicial officers took part in the ceremony. Min Xing, Director of Personnel Department, presided the ceremony, and Li Houlong, Secretary of the Party Committee and President, led the oath. Representatives of government and residents attended the ceremony.

On November 24, Nanjing Maritime Cour(“NMC”) held the inaugurating meeting of “Youth Translation Team” and the seminar of foreign maritime law, for the purpose of building a better mechanism in serving foreign-related trials, cultivating excellent judges, and shaping positive court culture. Li Wei, Secretary of the Commission of Provincial Organs, Dong Xiaobo, Professor of Nanjing Normal University, Lu Lu, Associate Professor of Southeast University, Yu Wenjie, Associate Professor of Southeast University, Min Xing, member of the Party Committee and Director of Political Department of NMC attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by Zhao Peiyuan, Director of the Martime Tribunal of NMC.

On November 27, Nanjing Maritime Court(NMC) signed a cooperation agreement with Dalian Maritime University(DMU) with aim to conscientiously implement the spirit of Xi jinping's important speech during his inspection of Jiangsu province and implement the development strategies of the Yangtze River Economic Zone, regional integration of the Yangtze River Delta, “the Belt & Road”and the construction of maritime power.

Li Houlong, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Nanjing Maritime Court(hereinafter referred to as "NMC"), led a research visit to the Jiangsu Free Trade Zone (Hereinafter referred to as“FTZ”) Nanjing Area on November 23,2020. Two sides had a deep discussion on the construction of FTZ and maritime judicial services. Liu Zhiwei, member of the Party Working Committee and Vice-president of the management committee in Nanjing Jiangbei New Area, presided over the meeting.

Is the scope of the mortgage guarantee of ships equal to the scope of the principal claim? Which one shall prevail when the scope of the mortgage guarantee in agreement is inconsistent with the registration? There are different opinions in practice. Some people believe that the amount of the registered principal claim shall prevail, not including interest therefrom, default fine and other costs. There are other opinions that the scope of the guarantee stipulated in the contract shall prevail.
