The Nanjing Maritime Court in Nanjing, East China's Jiangsu province, has resolved an international maritime cargo transportation contract dispute involving parties from the United Kingdom, China, and the Marshall Islands. The resolution of this case not only highlights the fairness and efficiency of Chinese courts in handling international maritime disputes but also supports the development of foreign-related maritime legal frameworks.

Nanjing Maritime Court of PRC, based in Nanjing, East China's Jiangsu province, accepted 4,899 maritime and maritime commercial cases in 2025, with 4,249 of them concluded. Both the number of cases filed and concluded ranked top among maritime courts in the country, giving an additional boost to the court’s international credibility.

On June 8, the Department of Natural Resources of Jiangsu Province and the Lianyungang Municipal People’s Government jointly hosted the Jiangsu Main Event for the 2026 National Marine Publicity Day and the Seminar on High-Quality Marine Economic Development.

Recently, a crew labour contract dispute adjudicated by Nanjing Maritime Court was featured in Volume 4, 2025 of Chinese Maritime and Commercial Law Reports. The journal is issued by Informa UK plc, a world-leading publisher specialising in maritime and commercial law. This is the fourth judgment from Nanjing Maritime Court to be included in its publications.

Recently, the Case Filing Division of Nanjing Maritime Court received an urgent call from the attorney representing five crew members. According to him, they had previously been employed on a fishing vessel. After their service ended, the ship operator owed them a total of over 120,000 RMB in unpaid wages. The crew members repeatedly demanded payment by visiting the operator in person and making phone calls, but their efforts were consistently rebuffed with various excuses, leaving them repeatedly frustrated. At that time, the vessel was berthed at Huangsha Port in Sheyang, Yancheng, and could set sail at any moment.

In midwinter, on the tidal flats of the Chuanshui Bay coastline in Dongtai City, mud clams crawl slowly and lay eggs quietly after the tide recedes, while migratory birds occasionally skim the water surface in the distance. This coastal wetland, once ecologically imbalanced due to the rampant spread of Spartina alterniflora, is now revitalizing.
